York County Deeds, Orders, and Wills Book 9--Indentures 24 February 1690/1 These prsents Wittnesseth that I John Phillips father in Law to Thomas Law hath and doth for Divers good Causes mee hereunto moveing, as well with ye. Consent of the [sa]id Childe, putt and binde himselfe unto Edward Cauley; and with him to serve until [torn] time of ye. sd. Childe Thomas Law shall arrive att ye. Compleat Age of one and [twenty] [ye]ares, all which said time, ye. sd. servant faithfully shall serve and the sd [torn] Cause to be [torn] and allowed [torn] for such a servant, Dureing all the said time and att the End or Expiration o[f] [torn] Terme the said Cawley to give unto his said servant, one Younge Cow and Calfe Comendable Cloathing sufficient for him according to ye. degrees of a man servant Wittnesse our hands the 24th. Records which is accordingly don. p Wm: Sedgwicke Cl Cur Source: York County Deeds, Orders, Wills (9) 118-119. 24 May 1692 This Indenture witnesseth that Thomas Burke of his owne free will and accord, as alsoe for and in consideration of Samuell Ravenscroft of Boston in New England Merchant his payment of seven pounds & Tenn shillings mony unto John Arnold prison keeper of Boston aforesaid for the Redemption of himselfe out of prisson, Hath and by these presents doth putt and binde himselfe apprentice unto the said Samuell Ravenscroft, & doth Covenant promise and agree with him the said Samll: Ravenscroft his Executors. admrs: or assignes after the manner of an Apprentice to dwell and serve from the day of ye: date hereof unto the full end and Terme of Three years thence next ensueing fully to be compleat and ended, And dureing all which said terme his said Master his Executors: Admrs: or assignes well, truly and faithfully to serve in all such honest labour & imployment both att land and sea as he or they shall have for him to doe, and sett him about his and their secritts to keep close and comands lawfull and honest every whear redily obay and doe, the goods or monyes of his said Master, his executors admrs: or assignes he shall not inordinately wast, consume, imbezell or purloyn nor them without leave lend to any, hurt or damage in any kinde unto his said Master he shall not doe, nor see to be done of others, but shall prevent itt if he may or timely disclose itt, from his said masters service by day or night he shall not unlawfully absent himselfe, Butt in all things as a good faithfull dilligent and obedient servant and Apprentice shall bear and behave himselfe toward his said master his executors: administrators or assignes and all his and theires both in word and deed dureing the said Terme In Consideration whereof the said Samuell Ravenscroft doth Covenant promise binde and oblidge himselfe his Executors Admrs: and Assignes to finde and provide for said Apprentice good and suffitient meat, drink, Apparrill, washing, lodgeing and necessaries, both in sicknes and in health dureing the said terme And att the expiration thereof to dismisse him with suitable Cloathing.
